a solid win against Barnet

Whilst Jermaine Beckford and Bradley Johnson took the day off with minor injuries, Leeds strode firmly onto a another pre-season victory, this time 2-0 over Barnet.

A number of things became abundantly clear in this match, most obvious is how precisely Gary McAllister is going to manage to give Fabian Delph enough time and for that matter, how long before he and Jonny Howson become sought-after targets of upper-tier teams. Fabian is a superb talent, who has shown well with Englands U19 and at only seventeen years-old possesses a wealth of potential.

The trial of Argentine Luciano Becchio continued and he produced numerous solid efforts and starting to slowly assert himself. The question that looms ahead is whether he can be signed to an affordable contract and be countered with Jermaine Beckford. Along with the addition of the young Scottish Striker Robert Snodgrass and the desire to add a more experienced veteran, the squad is looking quite packed. Gary has some very interesting decisions ahead and I suspect the talented youth group is going to make this much more complicated.
