“it’s winning football matches that counts”

New Leeds United manager Simon Grayson commented of his beliefs:

“I want to play entertaining football – but it’s winning football matches that counts.”

“Ideally you want to entertain, but results come first. If we win a scrappy 1-0 against Leicester on Boxing Day we’ll take it.”

“At Blackpool we won 10 in a row and got into the Play-Offs.”

“I think we have an opportunity to do that. This group of players are more than capable of doing that.
“They have to be fully focused on the pitch and on the training ground.”

Of the Boxing Day battle against Leicester City he said:

“I hope the fans can embrace the opportunity and get behind the team. It’s a fantastic start against Leicester and we have an opportunity to the take the club forward. I can assure people we will be working hard and if everyone is pulling in the same direction there’s nothing stopping this club going forward.”
