Leeds steals late victory
By: j | March 14th, 2009Leeds stole three points Saturday afternoon as they defeated Swindon Town 1-0 with a late strike by Jermaine Beckford. With the victory the Whiltes promotion hopes continue as they maintain a slim hold on fifth position in the table. The loss came at cost though as last years League One Player of the Year, Beckford, was sent off in the final moments with his second yellow card.
Simon Grayson made no changes to his lineup using Robert Snodgrass, Jonathan Howson, Neil Kilkenny and Fabian Delph in the midfield supporting Jermaine Beckford and Luciano Becchio up top. While Leeds showed a great amount of attacking spirit coming close within the first minute, attempt after attempt was denied by the staunch defending of Swindon and their ‘keeper Phil Smith. With the young Scot Robert Snodgrass effort a quarter of an hour in and Jermaine Beckford’s only eight minutes later, the prospects of finding their way through seemed dim. By the later stages of the half, Leeds clear cut run of play had been held and scoring attempts were primarily highly prospective in nature. Finally with three minutes remaining a deft chip by Robert Snodgrass found Jermain Beckford in-close to which he headed-in giving Leeds the 1-0 victory. While it certainly wasn’t an emphatic victory it was the type of win needed in a tough promotional bid.
Leeds returns to play next Saturday against Crewe Alexandra.

I suspect English isn’t your first language as a team playing at home that has (offically) dominated the game and wins 1-0 even if it is by scoring in the 87th minute, can hardly be accused of stealing 3 points.
Now if Swindon had scored a winner in the 4th minute of added time, then THAT would be classed as stealing 3 points.Posted from

The only thing “official” is that for eighty-seven minutes Leeds was unable to score hence they were not very dominating, much like their entire season where they have squandered endless opportunities.
