Leeds suffers fourth straight loss
By: j | December 13th, 2008Leeds mid-season collapse continued with their fourth successive loss as they fell 2-1 to Colchester United. With the loss the pre-season favourites have tumbled to eighth in the League One table and the concerns of “crisis” are undeniable. In front of a relatively modest crowd of just over 19,000 Robert Snodgrass gave Leeds the goal advantage striking from just over ten meters out four minutes past the half hour mark. Unfortunately for Leeds their dreary pace-void attack couldn’t muster another goal and just before the half The U’s leveled the match in a very controversial fashion. With in a very controversial fashion. With Rui Marques sent to the sidelines to replace his shirt, Leeds was forced to defend a corner a man down, resulting with Dean Hammond nodding in Mark Yeates’s corner. Twenty minutes after the re-start David Prutton was excused with his second yellow card and from the ensuing free-kick Mark Yeates, the enterprising young Republic of Ireland international, drove the ball to the back of the net. Leeds came close to equalizing the match with Luciano Becchio crossed to Enoch Showunmi but the resulting header was insufficient and the match ended with a 2-1 loss.
At this stage of the campaign, one look at the opening lineup told the story of the match before it was played. Employing a cautious approach Leeds dowdy vision of play resulted predictably in few scoring opportunities and made little use of its strength.
Leeds will need to address its problems immediately as they face third-place Milton Keynes Dons next week.

Unfortunately there is not much they can do to remedy the personnel problem until January When they do they should go young for the defender unless they can go international because they will never get anyone good and established to go to League One. Since West Ham needs to unload, they should chase someone with potential like Jordan Spence on loan to Leyton.
Rui has been on the fringes for years and plays like a stick. We do not want to buy another player of senior years who is injured in his first outing.
I agree, let the young and energetic take the team and go for it. The tried and true like Dougas can anchor them. I copuld never understand why Richardson was appointed captain. He has been around forever but nobody has ever wanted him to speak of. He is good man but…. And, I hate to mention it but when Prutton got his first yellow, the coach should have yanked him out. The second yellow was ridiculous but even so, the odds were.Posted from
