Leeds v Southend United match preview

By: j | January 26th, 2009

Southend travel to Elland Road on Tuesday as Simon Grayson’s side look to continue their two match winning streak. At seventh place and five points behind the last playoff spot, each match for Leeds is a “must win” and they must continue to apply pressure.

With the short week and without any notable injuries holding his side back, Leeds has the full lineup from Saturdays clash against Peterborough available. Given Jermaine Beckford’s brace after coming in for Luciano Becchio, the managers choice will be whether he pairs him up with the Argentine maestro or Lee Trundle. On-loan Richard Naylor and Carl Dickinson will once again hold down Leeds back-line.

The much anticipated return of Dougie Freedman to Elland Road is put on hold as the thirty-four year old striker suffered an injury last week against Leyton Orient and will not feature. Southend will be also be without Anthony Grant and Peter Clarke, who are both in the sin-bin as well as Alex Revell.

As always I will report on the match as concludes. Until then we’re Marching on Together.
