Marching on Together: Leeds travels to Southend

By: j | October 27th, 2008

Leeds travels to Southend sitting second in the League One table, three points behind Scunthorpe. With the singular goal of earning promotion to the Championship League, each match is crucial and with Scunthorpe facing a tough Oldham, a victory could find Leeds at the top of the table. Southend is quite a capable club and after coming off a tough loss to the Bristol Rovers will be looking to impress their loyal supporters. Equally it should be noted that they are a tough at home, having built Roots Hall into somewhat of fortress, for which Leeds fell last year 1-0. However if Gary McAllister is to lead Leeds to promotion this type of match is a “must-win.”

The only absence of Leeds is Alan Sheehan whilst the only guaranteed omission from the lineup is none other than Dougie Freedman, who served Leeds so brilliantly last year. Southend sniper Lee Barnard is expected to return along with Dan Harding who returns from suspension.

I report on the match once it concludes but until then we’re Marching on Together.
